Submit public records

Have public records that should be in this archive? Send them here. Every submission is reviewed before publication. We accept documents, audio, video, and other materials that constitute or relate to records of Polk County governmental bodies.

Before you submit
  • This is for documents — PDFs, images, audio, video, scanned letters, meeting minutes, emails, etc. If you only have a tip without a document, use the tip form instead.
  • Every submission is reviewed. Nothing goes public automatically. We may edit titles or descriptions for clarity, redact personal information, or decline to publish material that doesn't fit the archive.
  • Don't submit: records under court seal, juvenile records, medical records of private individuals, anything you weren't lawfully authorized to obtain, or copyrighted material owned by someone else.
  • Your IP address is logged with the submission for accountability and may be turned over in response to valid legal process. Submitter contact details are kept private and never published unless you explicitly request a credit line.
  • What becomes public if we publish: the records themselves, your suggested title and description (often edited for clarity), the agency, the category, the date you obtained them, and what you paid (if you fill those in). Your name only appears if you explicitly request a credit line. Your contact info, IP address, source notes, and prior-publication URL stay private.

See the full privacy policy for how we handle submitted data.
