Request - Joshua Watson Closed Case Records
Under the Texas Public Information Act (Texas Government Code Chapter 552), I request electronic copies of all records related to the closed case involving Joshua Watson (Case No. CR25-002). The Polk County District Clerk’s Office has confirmed that this case is closed.
Specifically, I am requesting:
Case files, including charging documents, investigative reports, witness statements, exhibits, and the final disposition.
Any correspondence, internal memos, or notes related to the case.
Copies of all exhibits and evidence materials (photos, videos, audio, forensic reports, and other items) that were submitted to or retained by your office in connection with this case.
Transcripts from any hearings, proceedings, or related court sessions.
Court records and DA’s office documentation associated with the case.
I understand that this case involves a minor. Please redact all personally identifying information of any minor(s) to protect their identity, while providing all non-exempt portions of the records.
If you determine that any material is privileged or exempt, please provide the non-exempt portions with redactions and cite the specific statutory exemption for anything withheld.

Dear Mr. Hazan:
You requested assistance from the Office of the Attorney General (“OAG”) in obtaining
information from the Polk County District Attorney’s Office (the “district attorney’s
office”) under the Public Information Act (the “Act”), chapter 552 of the Government
Code. Your correspondence was assigned ID# OR-25-049197-IC.
The district attorney’s office requested a ruling from this office regarding the requested
information and our office issued Open Records Letter No. 2026-006196 (2026) on
February 18, 2026. Open Records Letter No. 2026-006196 concluded the district
attorney’s office must withhold the submitted information pursuant to section 552.101 of
the Government Code in conjunction with section 261.201 of the Family Code.
Accordingly, as this office addressed the requested information in a letter ruling, we are
closing our file on your complaint.
If you feel the district attorney’s office has not complied with the ruling, you may send
additional written comments to this office. Should you have any questions regarding this
